$79 Summer 09 Wardrobe Refashion

January 10th 2009 12:55
Blue top

There's a lot to be said about other people's junk being other people's treasure. This was certainly the case for me this week when I visited my favorite thrift haunt and bagged myself a completely new summer wardrobe for $79.

I shall talk you through each piece, beginning with the blue Morgan Spencer top above ($7). In perfect condition with a drawstring waist. Will go perfectly with wardrobe staple (jeans) and white canvas skirt. It has tiny green flowers throughout the print and looks as though it has never been worn.

I call this one my 'Morning Glory' dress ($8). This one fits so well - a fully lined Mark Richard (?) shift dress. I think it looks better on than on the hanger.

To go with it, I snapped up this Colorado long cardi ($9) in celery green and what would you know, the Olga Berg bag that I bought in the same haunt some months ago for $6 complimented the outfit extremely well!

It must have been a dress day, because the next item I happened across was this pink floral Suzanne Grae frock ($7), which also worked with the cardi.

For evening, I selected this beautiful plum fluff neck slinky knit ($15 expensive I know) and the black capris that I have photographed it with were also a purchase from the haunt, moons ago, but work well with the knit and black high heels.

But most treasured of all, is this gorgeous Basque party dress at $14.99, with a pleated bodice and box pleat skirt. I love the style and the colors and you can swish in it.

I found a light wrap cardi/jacket - Jacqui E for $4 which I can throw over it if the night is chilly.

What I haven't shown you, because I have run out of time, are three skirts and a turqoise hoodie. So there you have it.

I realise these are not all cutting edge fashion pieces, but they suit my style, make me feel good and I don't have a credit card debt to deal with as a result of this shop up. Not only that, I feel as though I have reused and recycled.

So my day as a photo/stylist/model is done - air kiss, air kiss, ciao darlings!
