Bird Bling
July 15th 2008 12:08
These days I like to do my jewellery shopping at Etsy. It's a feel good way to buy your bling because you are supporting independent craftspeople AND the prices are incredibly reasonable.
It seems that birds have made a bit of a design statement recently, so I thought I'd show you a few treasures from etsy sellers that have captured my attention. The mod bird you see above is from the range of Madison Craft Studio. I purchased their Purple bird at the start of the season and it travels with me for most of the week. MCS also provide the cords and chains if you want them.
Sushipot's antique style Linnet pendant is made from a poker chip! Very effective and quite 'moody'. Imagine this worn with a steely grey tee, black skinny jeans and boots.
Bird behind glass is what comes to mind looking at Imogen's Blackbird on Green. Quite a sophisticated piece of birdy bling, this one. Would you believe it is only US$5.50?
I like to have something new to go with my outfits so this is an affordable way to accessorise. Without outlaying big dollars, I don't have to panic if I've accidentally worn it in the shower, misplaced it or it falls victim to a curious child.
Buying your jewellery from Etsy is very straightforward. Simply log on, add your items to their shopping cart and checkout. The sellers are located across the globe, but in terms of shipping costs, this is no drama because jewellery is light. Their search facility is very detailed so you can narrow your choice to colour, object and material easily. You may however, need to put some time aside when you do your bird bling search because at last count, there were 3337 to choose from!
