Creating a waist this season is a cinch - cinch belt that is. Hitting our accessory stands with a vengence are cinching belts in all shapes and colours, so there is bound to be one (or two) to take your fancy. Cinch belts were the defining fashion detail in the 80's, but thank goodness this time around they have been designed with far more imagination than the wide black elastic bands that
Victoria Beckham shows us how a simple cincher creates a beautiful transition from blouse to skirt - the whole outfit flows. These belts really 'tidy up' the area where top tucks into skirt and give a great line.
The biggest look for the cinch this season however, is with a flowing dress. The wide belt will bring all the fabric in at the waist, creating a blousing effect above and below - very flattering for all figure types.
Layering tops over skirts over trousers etc is continuing, and the cinch belt will add definition to what could otherwise be a messy combination. Even in this wintery weather, a cinch belt around a cropped knit adds style.
For those of you who are excited by the emerging corsage trend, then this cinch and maybe these hipsters are going to be your season musthaves - if you are planning to wear them together, maybe breaking them up with a skirt or dress, might be a good move.
