Hunting and Collecting

I find it very satisfying to happen across a pre-loved garment that is exactly what I have been looking for. This very thing occurred a few weeks ago when I stumbled across this unstructured knit jacket - in celery green.

thrifted jacket

Made from a cotton blend, this knit is lightweight and warm - not a heavy woolly which I don't want right now. It's 'unfinished' roll cuffs and neckband make it a really casual piece, but it drapes well. When I brought it home, I suddenly remembered my vintage hunting scarf, that I have never worn but had put away, knowing there would come a time when it would be needed. The time has arrived.

Not that I am an advocate of fox hunting, it's actually the hounds that appeal to me on this scarf.

These pieces seem to be made for each other. Worn with jeans and some flat boots, I feel like some 'manor girl' who is about to go out and feed the horses or speak to the gardeners about the hedge trimming.

label

Would you believe, the label says 'Country Life'. If anyone knows of this company which is in New Zealand - let me know.
