Tiptoe in Your Tulip
August 12th 2008 12:49
For some time now I have been eyeing this skirt shape with a combination of admiration and suspicion. Without exception, the tulip skirt looks so chic on models and clothing racks alike, but I just wondered if I was 'leggy' enough to carry it off.
So, the other day I took the plunge and bought myself a denim one (from Target just in case) - and no regrets! Teamed with black tights and my Steve Madden Mary-Janes (that I bought for a wedding in February and have worn so often since)
it works well. While I don't claim to look like this, here is the general effect of a tulip with tights and lady-like shoes.
If you feel your life doesn't present itself regularly enough with hotel luncheons, charity engagements and garden parties, go for a denim one like I did so when vegemite hands tug on it, the stress is markedly reduced. For inspiration, here are a couple to view:
Maybe your life exudes more glamour than mine. If that is the case, go straight to these tulips - the black one is my favorite, so think of me when you wear it.
By nature, this skirt nips and accentuates the waist and shapes in at the knee, with all of the volume around the hips. If you are a hippy (anatomically not sociologically speaking) and you would rather direct the eye elsewhere, opt for the pencil skirt, and enjoy your tulips in the garden.
